• The Joker: I love to make people laugh and use humor to connect with others.
• The Collector: I am eager to gain a vast array of experiences (like going concerts and training), but I also collect unique rocks and crystals.

I have two golden retrievers named Daisy and Dudley
About Emily
Hi there! I have being working with children for many years and bring a genuine passion for others, sense of humor, and a curious mind to my work as a play therapist in training. I am passionate about providing affirming mental health care for neurodivergent children and their families. I would be great fit for a child or pre-teen struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, and adjustment concerns.
I have been working in the mental health field with children since 2019 and have loved it ever since. I have my master’s in Clinical Counseling from Wright State University and have experience working in community mental health, clinic settings, and inpatient settings. I interned at Dayton Children’s Hospital as a mental health therapist in the Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit and here at Wired to Bloom. As an EMDR trained therapist, I able to incorporate this powerful treatment into my work with children and teens through creative and play-based methods. As a Certified AutPlay Therapy Provider I am able to provide neurodiversity affirming therapy to further support the needs of neurodivergent children and their families.
“What is most important about children can only be learned from children.” - Gary Landreth
Practicing from a child led approach, this quote embodies my work with clients. Utilizing child led approaches, such as Child Centered Play Therapy, allows for the child’s natural language (play!) and the therapeutic relationship to provide a consistent and safe therapeutic environment that fosters healing. By using brain and nervous system science based approaches, I am able to support the mental health needs of children through the healing power of play and in a way that is developmentally appropriate and relationally-focused.
I believe lasting change starts with connection and safety. My goal is to create an affirming and supportive environment where clients can share all parts of themselves .Using non-directive and directive techniques, I am able to truly cater and individualize sessions and treatment for each client.
While I primarily work with children, I am also here to support their families and the adults that love them! Caregiver involvement is a crucial piece in my therapeutic process. Just as I am able to individualize client sessions, caregiver support can be individualized as well.
I am working under the supervision of Machen Champion LPCC-S, practice owner.
